Transfers with public transport along the route

In the interest of environmentally friendly travelling to, from and during your pilgrimage, it is recommended to do so by train or bus.

Both Brunn am Gebirge and Perchtoldsdorf have very good public transport connections. Both starting points can be reached from Vienna or St. Pölten in around 45 minutes, from Linz in around 1.5 hours.

For the return journey from Mariazell, we recommend using the Mariazell Railway to reach St. Pölten and from there further connections back to your starting point or directly to your home.

There are several railroad lines available along the routes, especially along the Via Sacra: the Mariazell Railway from St. Pölten to Mariazell, the railroad line in the Gölsental Valley from Hainfeld to Traisen and another railroad line to Lilienfeld. In addition, there are several bus connections.

Generally speaking, the Via Sacra has more public transport connections along its pilgrimage trail, primarily due to its routing.
