The pilgrimage app "Pilgern in Niederösterreich" (available in German only) is an extremely useful tool before, during and also after your pilgrimage.

Always with you, weighs nothing, takes up no space and only needs a power socket every now and then: Hiking apps on smartphones are the ideal companions for on the way. All relevant information about the trails and sights along the route is only a few touchscreen clicks away. Especially for spiritually inspired hikers, the new pilgrimage app "Pilgern in Niederösterreich" (which translates to “On pilgrimage in Lower Austria”)—available for Android and iOS free of charge, in German only—is the ideal tool to plan your pilgrimage from the convenience of your home or to serve as a guide on the way.

The main part of the app consists of route displays of the following pilgrimage trails:

Via Sacra (from Hinterbrühl near Vienna to Mariazell)
Vienna Pilgrimage Trail (from Perchtoldsdorf near Vienna to Mariazell)
Pielachtal Pilgrimage Trail (from St. Pölten to Mariazell)
Way of St. James Lower Austria (Way of St. James Weinviertel, Way of St. James Carnuntum, Vienna and Danube and Way of St. James Mostviertel region to Linz)
Upper Austrian Mariazell Trail (from Linz to Mariazell)
Klemens Maria Hofbauer Pilgrimage Trail (from Tasovice, CZ to Vienna)
Sonntagberg Pilgrimage Trail (from Maria Taferl to Sonntagberg)
Way of St. Francis Weinviertel (circular route with starting point in Bad Pirawarth)

Numerous features

The intuitive app serves as a hiking map and a pilgrimage guide. In addition to detailed maps and tour descriptions (incl. stage suggestions), the app can be used to display and search for points of interest such as eating & drinking options as well as accommodation options, sights, and useful infrastructure such as shopping facilities, pharmacies, drinking fountains and public toilets.
For the pilgrimage trails Via Sacra and Vienna Pilgrimage Trail, the app additionally offers pilgrimage audio guides for inspiration and contemplation (German only).

Please note that currently, the app is only available in German.
